The Research Collections and Preservation Consortium (ReCAP)

Princeton, NJ

ReCAP (The Research Collections and Preservation Consortium) a consortium of Columbia University, the New York Public Library and Princeton University proceeded to develop, own, occupy and operate a state-of-the-art library facility on a site in Princeton Forrestal Center in Princeton, NJ.  The modular design accommodates a proprietary shelving and storage system which has been successfully utilized in several other comparable facilities.  Modules I-III were completed in October 2001.  Module IV was completed in 2004.

Module V opened in March 2008 and has achieved some press for having solar panels outfitted on the roof.

Municipal approvals on the sixth module were obtained in 2009 and design is being completed in 2010.

Client: Columbia University, the New York Public Library, and Princeton University
LEED Certification:

Since the original structure was built before LEED certification, the entire project is not LEED certified. However sustainable and environmentally conscious elements are being incorporated, such as the 5,000 new photovoltaic panels installed on the roof of the archival library. Solar-generated power will flow from these panels.

Aegis Role:

ReCAP has retained Aegis Property Group to provide comprehensive project management services including project planning, team formation, pre-construction, construction and occupancy phases of the development.  Aegis has been providing services to ReCAP since 2000.
