Virtua Health is undertaking the development of a new health campus on a 125 acre site in Voorhees, NJ. The campus will feature a new hospital and a comprehensive ambulatory center designed to handle a growing number of patients and accommodate future technologies.

The 660,000 s.f., 376 bed hospital will include a woman’s and children’s pavilion and an adult medical and surgical pavilion. Construction began in March 2008 and is scheduled for completion in early 2011.

Virtua entered into a partnership with Frauenshuh Healthcare Real Estate Solutions for the development of a 300,000 s.f. Ambulatory Care Center.Virtua programs in the new facility include an ambulatory surgical center, radiation oncology suite with two linear accelerator vaults, cancer program support/administration, diagnostic and women’s imaging, adult and pediatric laboratory/PAT, sleep lab, conference center, retail, and pediatric retail. Base building construction will begin in summer 2010 with Virtua fitout construction starting in spring 2010. Base building and fitout construction is expected to be completed in spring 2012.

Aegis Role:

Aegis Property Group has been retained by Virtua to support its facilities team with the management of the design phase for the Virtua fitout of the Ambulatory Care Center. Aegis joined the Virtua team during the conceptual design phase and will coordinate the design process with the architect, Hammel, Green and Abrahamson (HGA), the medical equipment planner, RTKL, and the various Virtua user groups. Aegis will develop and manage the overall project budget for Virtua and will assist Virtua with the lease negotiations.
